Conformance status

This website (www.sparkfabrik.com) is partially conformant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, due to the limitations listed below.

Non-accessible content

The following content is not fully accessible for the reasons indicated.

Non-conformance with WCAG 2.1 AA

At the time of writing, there are no known non-conformances with WCAG 2.1 AA. All issues identified during the March 2026 audit have been corrected (see “Audit results and corrections applied”).

Content not subject to the legislation

• Third-party videos: videos embedded from YouTube and Vimeo are subject to the accessibility policies of their respective platforms and are not under our direct control.
• Third-party widgets: the cookie banner (Iubenda) and analytics tracking (Google Tag Manager) are managed by external providers.

Disproportionate burden

• PDF documents: some older PDF documents are not fully accessible. Full conversion is planned but not yet started.

Preparation of this statement

This statement was prepared on 16 March 2026 based on a technical audit conducted with the following tools and methods.

Assessment methodology

The accessibility assessment was conducted by combining:

• Automated testing: audit with Pa11y (WCAG2AA standard) on 11 representative pages, which identified 118 errors and 1,664 warnings
• Analysis tools: axe-core, Lighthouse, WAVE
• Manual verification: full keyboard navigation, screen reader testing, colour contrast verification, HTML semantic structure review

Audit results and corrections applied (March 2026)

The following corrections were applied following the audit:

• Menu keyboard navigation: desktop menu categories (About, Services, Case Studies, Resources) are now reachable via Tab and can be activated from the keyboard. Submenus open via :focus-within in addition to mouse hover.
• Search button: the search icon in the header was a non-interactive div element. It has been converted to a button with an ARIA label.
• Buttons without accessible names: added aria-label attributes to the menu close button and the “Back to top” button in the footer.
• Images without alternative text: added alt attributes to contact photos in CTA sections and on the Contact page.
• Insufficient contrast: corrected the text colour on orange navigation menu badges, bringing the contrast ratio into compliance.
• Duplicate IDs in the DOM: removed duplicate id="Layer_1" attributes from inline SVG icons.
• Carousel labels: replaced placeholder labels “Splide Basic HTML Example” with meaningful descriptions in Italian and English.
• Team map navigation links: <a href="#"> elements were replaced with <button> elements with appropriate aria-label attributes.
• Empty heading: added aria-hidden="true" to the empty h4 element in the team card, hiding it from assistive technologies.
• Mobile menu focus trap: implemented a keyboard focus trap in the mobile menu overlay. When the menu is open, Tab cycles through interactive elements within the menu without reaching the underlying page. Escape closes the menu and focus is restored to the element that triggered it.

Measures taken

SparkFabrik takes the following measures to ensure the accessibility of the site:

• Performing accessibility audits with every significant release
• Training the development team on WCAG 2.1 and assistive technologies
• Using semantic HTML, ARIA landmarks, and correct heading hierarchies
• Ensuring a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for all text
• Testing keyboard navigation and screen reader compatibility
• Providing alternative text for all informative images
• Integrating automated accessibility testing into the development process

This site is designed to be compatible with the following combinations of browsers and assistive technologies:

• Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge (latest two versions)
• Screen readers: NVDA (Windows), VoiceOver (macOS/iOS), TalkBack (Android)
• Keyboard-only navigation
• Screen magnification software
• Operating system high contrast mode

The site is not designed for Internet Explorer 11 or earlier.
